The representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), has pleaded with the Executive Chairman, Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo -Alogba and the Alajede of Ijede Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Hon.) Adefarasin Saheed Hassan, to make available land for an ultra -modern abattoir facility.

AMA made the plea at the block laying ceremony of the Fish Processing Building at Madan, Ijede. The facility, which is expected to transform fish processing when completed, is sited at the location of the old Ijede abattoir.

According to him, the government resolved to move the abattoir away from the lagoon shore to prevent water pollution.

“Kabiyesi and my dear chairman, remember that this place that we are laying the foundation of this project today was where we had our old abattoir.

“However, I am pleased to inform you that the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture & Cooperatives, has generously decided to provide the kingdom with another new modern abattoir.

“This is another great opportunity for our community, and we are truly grateful to Mr. Governor for this kind gesture. But to make it a reality, we need to provide the land.

“We need to look for a space where the government can site the abattoir for us, and fortunately the abattoir is under the Ministry of Agriculture which is also overseeing the fishery project that we are embarking on. That’s what makes it easier for us.

Publicly making the request, Hon. Aro stated:

“I, therefore, respectfully appeal to His Royal Majesty, Oba Adefarasin Saheed, and my dear sister, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo -Alogba, that they should kindly make available a suitable piece of land for the construction of the new ultramodern abattoir for Ijede Kingdom”.
